Wednesday, 23 September – The Long Gaze Back, Liquor Rooms, 18:30

There has been incredible momentum behind this 30-story collection, and it’s not hard to see why. It spans four centuries, and features 22 never-before-seen stories from some of the most skilled female writers to have come out of Ireland. Thursday, 24 September – Grime & Buckfast, Hangar, €6/8, 22:30

Graduating from the comparatively retiring Techno & Cans nights, Hangar are now hosting Grime & Buckfast, its malevolent little sister. Glacial Sound, Paddy Harkin, Ed Fay and Bobofunk will provide the durt to the bacchanalia. The undeniably universal appeal has also pushed attendance into the thousands, so it may be worth buying an advance ticket. Details here.

Friday, 25 September – Body // Battleground, The Barricade Inn, €5, BYOB, 19:30

PETTYCASH are gearing up for Saturday’s fourth annual march for choice (13:30, Garden of Remembrance), and hosting an opendiscussion on bodily autonomy. Speakers will include Emily Waszak from the Abortion Rights Campaign, Oisin McKenna, Una Mullally, Sian Ni Mhuire, Andy Apples, Ailish Kerr and Vickey Curtis. Slogan-painting and cans optional. All proceeds are headed towards theAbortion Support Network and Transgender Equality Network Ireland.

Saturday, 26 September – Disco Regatta 2015, 25-27 September, Carrick-on-Shannon

White Collar Boy are once again putting on what has hopefully become an annual disco regatta (it takes about a year to recover from the euphoria, anyway), extending what The Ticket has called ‘Dublin Boat Week’ by a hair’s breadth. Everything kicks off on Friday evening, but Saturday will feature a disco flotilla soundtracked by Eoin Cody (Third Policeman), Sol O’Carroll and the DIP DJs, then an evening in Carrick-on-Shannon with Frank B, Clu and White Collar Boy themselves. Sunday, 27 September – Jagged Little Pill Singalong Party, MVP, 20:30

Celebrate the twentieth anniversary of one of the most seminal breakup albums of the ’90s in an angsty, Alanis-approved method. Free entry for the first 100, catered by Spudbox. Details here.

Monday, 28 September – Tangerines, IFI, €8.60, 14:10

It is 1992, Abkhazia. Against a backdrop of Estonian settlers holding out against Georgian claims to authority, Ivo and Margus remain to tend the tangerine crop. When Ivo takes in wounded soldiers from both sides, a fragile truce is declared and then tested. Details here.

Tuesday, 29 September – Banshee launch, Liquor Rooms, 19:00

The brainchild of Laura Cassidy, Claire Hennessy and Eimear Ryan, Tara Flynn is launching Banshee‘s first issue of contemporary Irish writing. Their submissions remit is varied: they’re looking for flash fiction, poetry and short stories, with a focus on sexuality, gender, technology and twenty-first-century adolescence.
